ABOUT.
Jeany Amir is a filmmaker who balances instinct and discipline in everything she creates. A graduate of the New York Film Academy, her work has travelled both locally and internationally, shaped by a love for honest storytelling and a strong visual language.
She began her journey in Los Angeles, spending nearly seven years as a freelance filmmaker, quietly building her voice through visual pieces before returning home to Malaysia, where her stories feel most personal, and her vision fully lands.
In 2019, Jeany made her directorial debut with Bu, Kasih Suci, a Malay-language family drama rooted in emotion and intimacy. The film earned her the Grandmaster Excellence Award, placing her among Malaysia’s most promising emerging directors at the time.
Drawn to stories that feel real, relevant, and slightly unexpected, she joined Director’s Think Tank in 2021. Since then, her work continues to move between commercial and narrative spaces, always chasing something fresh, yet grounded in feeling.
